Design Nature

Design Nature is an engineering design class where we learn about the design process. Our projects that we complete for this class have inspiration from nature. We also learn how to design for the user.

Hopper

For this project, we had to build a hopper for a selected persona inspired by a hopping animal of our choice. To start this project off, we learned about the mechanics of how frog hoppers jump by finding and observing a frog hopper in the woods. We then moved into sketches, prototypes, and bench top tests.

Play Experience

This was a group project of 5 people where we designed a play experience to teach fourth graders about our chosen animal. Our group chose the remora fish which has a suction on the back of their heads to attach to sharks. At the end of the semester fourth graders play tested the game and evaluated our design choices.
