Ventilator

During the pandemic, I worked with a few engineering/ bio-engineering students from Olin, Johns Hopkins, and Stanford to design a prototype for a low-cost ventilator. We worked with two doctors who use ventilators in their everyday job. As a part of Olin's "Do Something" mission, we wanted to try to help the problem of ventilator shortage. Ventilators cost around $30,000 and there isn't a real need for such a high cost. We budgeted ourselves to around $1500. We designed this for ease of manufacturing by utilizing fast and cheap manufacturing processes. We also talked to manufacturers all over the country for parts that would be able to produce in high supply. We designed this system within a month. We weren't able to produce these ventilators, but I learned a lot about designing with doctors for use in the medical field. I also practiced collaborating remotely with people I've never met.
